About Medical Updateblip-red

An overview

Medical Update was set up in 2007, by a GP, to provide educational events for other GPs

Presentations are evidence based, non-promotional and aimed at giving working GPs practical advice on managing patients in their surgeries.

Over the past 14 years, thousands of GPs have attended events organised by Medical Update.

Events are held online and in person in Leeds and Bradford. Most of the events are free to attend as the meetings are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies but we do charge for certain events.

Delegates are provided with a certificate of attendance, reflection form for appraisal and copies of slides.

Our Vision

We hope to make Medical Update a leading provider of education to primary care professionals.

Over the years, thousands of GPs have attended our events, held in Leeds and Bradford, and now we are developing further. By moving our meetings online, we have been able to reach a bigger audience. We aspire to only keep growing, to establish Medical Update nationally as a key training provider.

We hope to continue hosting quality speakers that provide informative, engaging and coherent content – that’s why your feedback is vital. With each meeting, we aim to explore new topics, so that no two meetings are the same.

Meet the Founder

I am an experienced GP. Over the past 21 years I have held a number or roles in General Practice. I have been a salaried GP, partner in a larger practice, locum, partner in a small practice then sole principal in a single handed practice in Addingham, West Yorkshire, for 14 years. Whilst working at Addingham I passed a Masters in Administration degree. I left the practice in 2020 as I decided I needed other challenges.  I have now been a locum for 18 months and I have never been happier professionally.

Over the past 12 years I have organised educational events for GPs in West Yorkshire. We have held over 200 monthly F2F meetings in Leeds and Bradford over the past 12 years. Feedback from GP’s has been extremely positive. The meetings stopped due to the pandemic. The plan is now to hold regular educational events online over the coming months. As a result of being a GP and also an education event organiser, I feel I have a good grasp of the educational needs of GP’s.

I hope you will be able to join us for these online events over the coming months.
